KD-65XH9096 - The panel remains black when Power ON on the encrypted channels

Hello,

I would like to share a recent experience I constantly have with the TV model KD-65XH9096.

Every time,  I start the TV on a channel that is encrypted (it has CI+ card), the TV Application refuse to decrypt the channel on time and the TV panel remains black with the sound active. After a few seconds, the TV is moving to the Home screen. Even though, I am trying to open again the TV application, is still did not display any image until the TV is rebooted. During this time, if I am trying to access the Settings-> ... Diagnostics ... it does not work either.

Once the TV has been rebooted, the TV application will manage to decode the encrypted channel on time and the image is working well. If you Power On the TV and wait until it sleeps and try again to open, it doesn't work if the remaining channel is an encrypted one when Power Off.

All this time, the sound is working well. The sounds from the encrypted channel it can be heard.

Is there a well known with the TV application on Android when trying to decode the encrypted channel from the stand by state?

Just to remind you that all the below actions have been already carried on:

- factory reset

- regular reboots

- clearing the cache

- it has the latest software

Hi,

Could be an issue with the CI+ card - please check with the provider if there's a newer version or a software update for this card.

Cheers

Peter

Hallo,

Thank you for your response.

I have already checked that as well and it runs the latest software. I have others old Android TVs in the house and they worked well.

I suspect a problem with this version of Android TV.

As I mentioned, this happens only if when Power Off and Power On is performed on a TV encrypted/payable channel. Otherwise, everything works and I experience no issues.

I changed the CI+ cards as well. Same behavior.

Best regards,
Sebica.

Hi there,

meanwhile, I changed the brand for the smart cards and it seems that I never experienced such behavior. In the same time, I made the updates as well and returned the old smart cards.

eventually, I need to get again an older one and see if the behavior persist regardless of the latest update.

I will try to come back with an update on this.

Many thanks!

Hi there,

it seems that lately, the same behavior is present again. in addition, much worst is the fact that due to the smart cards, the image is no longer crystal. it has a lot of noise.
When I remove the card from the slot, the image became clear like crystal but without being able to decode the payable stations (normal behavior  ).

Using the same smart card in other TVs the behavior is not present. I strongly believe that the problems came from SONY which might have hard times dealing with this type of Smart Card CI+ from Digi.

What do you think?

Best regards,

Sebi.

I come back with an update on my situation with the smart card and the black panel.
it seems that the remedy for this behavior is the mainboard replacement. I contacted the authorized sony service and they admitted that this is a well-known issue with a few models.

They changed the mainboard and everything is working normally now.

maybe this update will help others as well.

thank you for your entire attention and support.
