iPlayer and other catch-up apps, wont work

The iPlayer app, and none of the other catch up apps, wont work on my Sony KD-43XG8196.

I cant see a way to update the app, but I've tried doing the set up on my TV but no joy

When I select an app it just freezes and doesnt load

Hi,

It would have been helpful to know the model number of your TV.
Anyway, please check if your TV runs the latest firmware.

Cheers

Have they ever worked? Can only suggest things like :-

- clear data and cache of the apps - edit also try clearing youview cache

- if that doesn't work try re running the initial setup and accept all sony and youview terms and conditions

- last resort factory reset

The other option would be to sideload the Hoshsadiq shortcut versions from github.  You will still have the non working version in Sony Select. The sideloaded ones will be in apps and can be added to favourites. They work on oreo so assume they'll work on an XG

Cheers, it did work at the start

I've tried initial setup but made no difference

How do I clear the cache? In settings I'm assuming?

Yes in settings. Hopefully obvious which ones but if not some googling might help

Also have you tried a restart in settings or through long press on the remote power button

@FatBoyOnADiet

Check the clock time on your box, and that the time server it is using is accessible.

This issue has been plaguing Sony TVs lately.

My favourite bedtime reading is a Sony product manual…

Clearing the cache seemed to work!
