Entered pin code shows up in history

Hi,

I have a problem in the HBO-app. I have made two profiles, one for the children and another for the adults in the family. When you change from children to adult profile you are asked to enter a pin code. Unfortunately the pin code is saved in the history shows up in a box on the left side so it is not very secure . I have been in contact with HBO-support because my first thought was that the history box was a bug in the app-software. But they told me that it was not their app that save this kind of data, it has to be a setting on the tv!? So that is my quesition, how can I turn off this history? Maybe the TV handles this as some kind of search history and saves it because of that..? I have been searching for a way to turn this off but I can’t find the right place.

Best regards

Jonas

Hey @molnbo_jojo, what is the TV model number exactly? Also are you facing this issue since creating two separate accounts?

Hi Piscie,

thanks for the repor. The Tv Mosel is KD-55xe9305. I have not tried the HBO-Max app before. When I started the app I created two profiles, one for adults and one for children. The profiles are in the same account. It is when pin-code is asked for and the (android?)keyboard shows up, there is also a box with history box down to the left. In this box you can read the pin-code used last time you logged in. There is a ”clear history”-button in the keyboard, but sometimes you forget to press it after you log out. I want to turn off this history storage. HBO-support says it is not the app that stores this data, so somewhere in the settings I hope to find this option..?

Hey molnbo_jojo, I hate to tell you that it is not a setting on the TV, as the TV doesn't control the passwords, profiles, logins, etc of the apps on it, your first intuition was right. You can still try clearing cached data, but that is not practical as you'll need to do it after each session.

Thank you HannahEd01 for the reply. The strange thing is that HBO support deny that it is the app that makes the storage of the pin code!! This is the way it looks when I change profile in the HBO Max app:

Hey Jonas, did you try to go the apps and clear the cache and data for HBO app? Maybe that would help!
