Android 8.0 Oreo/ 9.0 Pie

Is it OK to expect Android Oreo on 2017 Sony Android TVs?

Can you post this here and in English?

Not sure whether I will find the time. Did you check with Google Translate?

I'll give it a try...but you know Google translate is not that precise especially with tech terms lol

BTW can I play DTS 5.1 files with video app or not?

You can. Only DTS-HD API is broken for both, MA and HRA, when being carried over ARC (with DTS Core extraction).

Still restarting when I connect to the internet. Outstanding work Sony

Which model is this? Is this affecting all models or only certain ones as that seems like a massive issue.

I don't want to risk updating my XE9005 or XG9005 by the looks of it....

KD-49XF9005 updated this morning. Seems stable with no issues so far, and internet connection is fine with Netflix and YouTube.

My XE8596 has the constant reboot issue since the last firmware in Feb, I was hoping this new version would sort it but doesn't sound like it will.

@Kuschelmonschter

Reading your post its very much a mixed bag, on balance would you advise upgrading or not? The biggest issue in your post for me is the fact it appears to run slower than Android 7? Is that true or is it about the same?

If its worse performance than Android 7 then its a big step back, is it also posible to disable Samba TV without drastic measures on Oreo?

The guy posting a response to you suggests its better performance than Android 7 but then some of his other points make no sense in the translation so it might just be a poor translation?

Thanks.

KD-55XE9305 updated without any problems but then again the v6.5830 back in February updated and worked fine with zero problems. HT-ZF9/SA-Z9R.

As I have been using v6.5830 Oreo 8 since February I can report it is by far a muxh better experience than the 7.0. The performance with v6.6510 is even better than v6.5830.

@LightFoot Did you do a factory reset before and after as @dutchice recommends? Thanks.

Hi @stormyuk   No, it is not required. However I did do a factory reset back in February only after I moved to v6.5830 although it was probably not required.
