A7C II - SDXC V90 warning message

January 2024.

SONY A7C II,  fw 1.01

I have recently been getting the message 'To perform shooting with this setting, use a memory card higher than SDXC V90.' in video mode.

I get this with Sony Tough G-series cards and ProGrade V90 cards. Camera is set to record XAVC-intra frame, 1920x1080, 25P so not particularly high data rate.

The A7C II only has one card slot. My SDXC are the fastest cards currently available. The camera doesn't have a CFE type-A slot.

I can of course hit OK and carry on shooting as normal but this looks like a software bug?  maybe worth letting the engineering team know?

In my case all my SDXC V90 cards are 128GB so storage space isn't the cause of the error.

Hi @0073540500008048 It sounds like you might be encountering a software bug with your Sony A7C II. Here are a few steps you can take:

I'm presuming that last message was auto-generated by a bot account?   Literally everything 'recommended' in it has already been discussed and explained in great detail in this thread. If it was generated by a human: please read the earlier messages as it already has this information.

Hi all!

I just made an account just to share a solution that is working for me.

For context I´m using a Sony a7cii in the latest firmware with a Sony Tough V90 class G 32GB card (same model as OP with even less capacity).

What I did is just renamed and formatted the SD in MAC mini using ExFAT instead of FAT32 (which is the format applied when you format in camera).

I really hope this also works for you.

Hi @dcmandrel,

if that really should be the reason why OP got the error message, then the text of the error message should be changed. As it stands it gives no clue about the file format the SD card was formatted to.
