Screen Dim

Hi all

New here and hoping one of you experts can help me:smileyhappy:
when i boot my vaio up the screen is very dim and i can barely see the vaio sign

Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how i go about repairing it.

Forgot to say what type of vaio it is VGN-FS115E

Sounds like a bad inverter. I like it you pressed FN+F4?

Thanks for te reply. Some told me the backlight has gone and another person said a new screen is needed
How can i tell if it is the inverter??

It could be the backlight, the inverter, or even the connections to and from them. There is no easy way to test the inverter or backlight - the only realistic option is to try a replacement.

It could also be the lid switch . . . .
