Windows XP problems

Hi,
I am facing some problems with my laptop.
1. if i choose to stand-by option and shutdown my system, and then when i start it up, it comes up and then suddenly goes to hibernate mode and shuts down.
2. if i choose hibernate and shutdown my system and upon starting, it comes up and once again goes back to hibernate.
3. I had shut down my system and started it again today, it came up and then went on to shutdown.
I had to again start up my system whenever it acts funny like this.
i use a windows xp media center.
can someone help me with this.

Hi giridhar,

Have you checked your settings in Power Options? It is possible that the system timer is set to Hibernate your Vaio after a short period of inactivity.

Hi Blencogo,
It is not that it goes to hibernate after a long period of inactivity.
If I choose to shutdown my machine, hibernate or stand-by mode manually.
Yea if my system is on AC and after some inactivity it does go to Hibernate.
Should I appraoch the help-desk-cust.service

Yeh i get the second one too, when i send to hibern8 and then press standby button so to switch on from hibern8 as as soon as i click on something its goes back to hibern8 but when i put it on this time its fine??
