Sony ECM AW3 Compatibility?

Hi there, I'm looking into buying the Sony ECM AW3 wireless mic for my Panasonic SD90 but keep reading conflicting reports of it's compatibility. Some sites and reviews claim it requires external power from a hot shoe, others say it runs on it's own battery power and only requires connection to the microphone jack. Can anyone clarify the truth for me please?

Hi Marauder, welcome to the Sony Forums

There are two parts to the AW3: microphone and receiver. Both run on batteries, and all that's needed on the camera is a 'MIC-in' mini-jack to plug the receiver into. Assuming the SD90 has a standard mini-jack, it should work fine.
