Hello Rhodie1 - Welcome to the Sony Forums

There are various online retailers (as well as eBay sellers) who are selling compatible filters for your camcorder. They are advertised as ones that simply screw on to the outermost surface of the lens. Searching for 'DCR-SX33E filters' on Google will show you the possibilities.

Recommendations for filters would depend entirely upon what you are looking to achieve. A regular UV filter is particularly useful for protecting the lens surface from scratches and aside from that, a lot of filter-style effects can be applied to the finished footage once you have returned to a computer - these features are beginning to appear in most of the basic video editing packages.

Thanks,

Simon
