I have a Cyber-shot camera and I would like to use it as a webcam... How do I do that??

Hi, welcome to the Sony Forums

Not many modern cameras will work as webcams, due to the way USB connections are configured these days. Older cameras used to support basic USB streaming but now you need to have the ability to shoot 'tethered' to your PC. Some higher-specificed cameras have this option but it's quite rare to find consumer-level cameras able to do it.

I checked the specifications for your camera and unfortunately niether streaming nor tethered shooting appears to be supported: http://www.sony.co.uk/support/en/product/DSC-W610/specifications

It's normally possible to use the integrated camera in a smartphone or tablet to capture 'live' video; if you have one you should be able to find an app that will set it up as a webcam.

Following on from what Mick has said about using a smartphone, I have been experimenting with IP Webcam for my friend's Android phone recently. There is an interesting article about it here:

In theory, this should allow a wide range of Android mobiles to be used as a webcam. If you have an iPhone, there are also similar free apps available that do the same thing.
