Looking for some help regarding my grandfathers Sony servo controlled turntable. I believe it is a rather old model but here gose! When you lift the needle to put on the record the starts to move but is stops after a few seconds and there is no sound. We have had everything off and back on again. Thank you in advance!!

Hi there

Unfortunately I cannot provide any advice and without a model number I am unsure if its economical to repair (assuming its a hardware fault) - you might want to consider it being looked at by an authorised Sony repair centre, see:

http://services.sony.co.uk/support/en/repair/asc

It could just need a bit of a service - new needle, belts etc?

However if all else fails, Sony do have two new models out on the market - they are high priced due to the 'niche' market.

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/audio-components/ps-hx500

https://www.sony.co.uk/electronics/audio-components/ps-lx300usb

Cheers
