Unable to hear during a call

I just received an Xperia U as a gift 2 days ago. I am unable to hear during a call except with speaker phone on. Headphone working fine, games working fine (I mean sounds). PC companion cannot restore my back ups. I am also unable to update. Android still on 2.3.7, build number 6.0.B.3.188. And the phone tells me I have the latest updates. Even though I know the build number and android are updated. At least officially. Any ideas how to make the earphone work.

most likely ICS hasn't been approved in your country and/or by your carrier

repair your phone with PCC or SUS (reinstall the software)

you have 2 alternatives

1) wait for the update

2) use flashtool

My problem is the same. The problem started after to install the last actualization (the mobile functioned good until this moment- my mobile has 6 months). I have repaired the last actualization but the problem follows and I don't know what I can do.

Hey Andy,

I took the phone back to the store since I made only calls to one cell number only on the first day.

They fixed it. They said it's a software issue. No format or reset since the nessages and phone calls were still on the phone. Even the build no. and software are the same, so no updates. Thank you all for your answers. I'm happy my new phone is working again.
