I tried a second re-boot cycle which reported some further Andriod updates, but wifi is still not able to find any access points when doing a scan. Neither can I enter my accesspoint details and get it to connect.

If the phone can't detect the network at all, check that you have a SIM-card in the phone and that it has network connection. If not, your phone will not be able to detect 5GHz networks at all or 2.4GHz networks on a channel above 11.

If this is not the problem and same thing happens with other networks, try making a repair of the phones software in PC Companion or Bridge for Mac.

Thanks for your suggestion. Of course the phone has a SIM card etc... it was working on and Wifi networks before I applied the update using PC companion (but I guess you had to ask). I have both 5 and 2.4ghz networks at home, and both are no longer being picked up, nor are my neighbours. Strangely my PS3 is the only access point detected by the network scan.

Annoyingly, the repair tool deletes contacts, and as I have an encrypted phone, I cant use the PC companion backup facility. Instead I used the feature within contacts on the phone to backup to SD card.

OK so the good news is the full reset has restored Wifi functionality.

The bad news is that all my apps have been lost along with the 'personal data' mentioned by the repair tool.

If other users also suffer with Wifi not working after an update, can support look into a fix for future updates? It will take a couple of hours to reload all my apps, which is quite a pain.
