urgent help plz regarding playstore

i tried to look in previous topics and discussions and couldnt find any thing related to my problem ... i m using xperia arc s LT18i (bought in lahore, pakistan) and upgraded it to Android version 4.0.4 and Build number is 4.1.B.0.587 (thats what it says in " About phone " option).

The issue is as i try to use playstore and it ask me to " Add a Google Account " and try to sign in it says " this can take a few minutes " and then it goes for ever. That means i can't add google account neither new nor existing. same is the case with Whatsapp after phone number verification when it ask me to provide my name and i enter my name it says " sorry whatsapp was unable to complete intitialization. Please check that you are connected to the internet and try again ". Where as my internet is fine i m using wifi and can browse even can use foursquare and can use facebook too.

Any one have any idea whats going on and whats the solution.

does your internet work? test it open the browser and go to time.gov, does it work?

yes time.gov works fine. even if i try to open Maps it says application recquire working data connection. quite strange. ok let me check out the thread.

that is indeed odd, you could repair your phone with SUS and try again, it might be a regional issue

wow play store is working now ... nope playstore wasnt working with wifi before ...

just curious why playstore suddenly started working ??? got to do any thing with time.gov ???

I have also same problm with Arc S, i want to resolve it but i dont want to update it in ICS i want to stay on GB, how can i resolve the problm plz help urgent.googleplay not working means its useless to use android phones. there are many softwares which needs google account loging but when we log in, it fails,its very disappointing,anyway help me resolve the problem. I have tried the service updation but it wants to chang into ICS but i dont want to update in ICS, plz help.
