Keyboard/writing language (HK phone)

Hi all

I got an Xperia S in Hong Kong, and I can't seem to switch to Spanish keyboard for writing. I already went into settings to add Spanish as a writing language. But the phone came with the Xperia keyboard, Xperia Chinese keyboard and Xperia Japanese keyboard and seems to default to the Chinese keyboard when writing which only allows toggling between English and Chinese. I want to be able to switch between English, Spanish and Chinese ... any ideas?

open the messagign app > open a conversation > tap on the input box > once you see the keyboard tap on the wrench at the botton > select input language

thanks uliwooly, but that only lets me toggle between English and Chinese ...

and when i try to get into settings by long pressing the wrench, it brings up the Xperia Chinese keyboard settings ...

not quite, you have to uncheck English and chinese and select spanish

do you have ICS or GB?

on ICS

open the messaging app > a converstaion > once you see the keyboard > drag down the notification bar > tap on select input method > configure input methods > xperia keyboard > languages > writing languages > check spanish and uncheck the other options

the steps are similar on GB

i'm VERY new to the android world (as you can tell since i can't even figure out how to change an input language!) ... i wouldn't know the difference yet between gingerbread and ics no doubt i will need your help here as i navigate my way through this brave new world! thanks in advance, haha.

I am having the same difficulty, I am between chinese and english, but i want English and Italian. Tried following these steps but when i drag down the notification bar the Input method is not an option.
