Live with Walkman ICS update problem

I'm from the Philippines and I was waiting for the ICS update. I've read this thread http://talk.sonymobile.com/message/199753#199753 saying that an update is available for the SI number.. but when I checked, my number is a lower SI number i think it was 5375? sorry I havent rechecked but I was certain it was a lower SI number than 5757. I plugged my phone into PC Companion on MSC mode (MTC mode seems to fail in detecting my phone) to check and it notified me of an update. So I went with the update procedures. I was at the downloading step then when the download completed (sort of) the dialog shows "preparing" then suddenly the update failed. and an error message popped up saying the the update failed. Any help???? sorry for the long post

ICS has been released for live with walkman, and i don't know why the thread is not updated

Try this

SUS ( Sony Update Service) ... download and install it on pc and follow the on-screen instructions http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Update_Service_Setup-2.11.12.5.exe

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/tools/update-service/

Both the links are same

when i try to upadate, PC companion says that update is available, but when i try to update... it says "unable to install or start phone software update components"... the following is the screen shot

and when i try to update through (SUS) Sony Update Service with phone switched off as it is the method... my computer freezes... what can be the reason for ?.. pease help

I've got the same thing! I'm quite relieved I'm not the only one having this issue.Oh and SUS, uh I think I'm too scared to take that path haha. I preffer the automatic update rather than the manual fiddling with the files with SUS thank you.

from the link uliwooly posted I think using SUS is too risky (such as voiding my warranty) for me. sorry. I hope this gets resolved

Updated mine fine. Trying out ICS and so far, so good. The icons seem a bit smaller though.

configuration?? Win 7 home premium 64bit I dunno if my phone not connected in MTC mode is the problem. recently my phone cant connect via MTC mode so I connect it to PCC using MSC mode. it was required to connect in MTC mode for updates in the old PCC (Sony Ericsson) but the newer version of PCC seem to continue with the update up until downloading completes. Oh any my phone's app icons end up rearranged when I checked my phone. I'm guessing the update did try to reconfig the phone?? but idk why it keeps on failing

Mine updated with ICS Android 4.0.4.. No problm with it.. it is working fine. Always with free RAM space 130MB or 120MB. Happy with the update Thanks to sony

I had the same problem some days ago. It's sony mobile preparing for android 4. Coz coming new android version, some days pc companion can work bad. Wait some days and everything will be ok. Glad to heard that ics came at last 😉

Not here yet. SI 1253-6224 , I'm in Germany and on the o2 network even though the phone is not locked.

I am current updating my Live with Walkman phone with Android Ice Scream Sandwich via Sony PC Companion and I am very excited for this update to finish today is June 7, 2012 7:30am Philippines time.

Mine has this same problem. Tried downloading it via Sony PC Companion and it showed the same screen as the others have posted. In here it's already 10:18am, June 7, 2012 (Philippines). Any help?

go to the top of the page and download SUS see if that helps
