Notification LED not working after ICS update

Hi, I noticed that notification LED is not working for Messages, Emails and GMail notification. I remembered it was configurable color LED around the Home button.

Please advice how to resolve the problem?

I have an ST18a - not modified in any way. With ICS I still get the LED around the home button flashing GREEN when gmail arrives.

Incoming text messages flash the LED green too.

Nothing for missed calls, but I don't recall Gingerbread doing anything with the LED on missed calls.

One thing I like is that missed calls do not put a call missed counter on the phone icon ... that was such a pain in Gingerbread because you could clear the notification but the counter on the phone icon would stay until you went into the dialer, call log and then exited out.

Have you installed any 3rd party apps that could affect this? I know for example that Handcent SMS can change the notification colors via its settings.

What do you think about this forum? Let us know by doing this short survey.

Hi Markus,

I didnt install any 3rd party applications.

As i dont get LED notifications in my phone by default,i installed a LED notification 3rd party application(After starting this forum) and then it is working fine.

Please suggest me how to get LED notification without any 3rd party application. Is there any settings need to be changed? If so, please tell the navigation for the specific setting.

Hi Markut (Sony Xperia Support),

I factory reset my phone before i update my phone to ICS.

After updating my phone to ICS, when i synchronise the contacts with Facebook and google, it includes the contacts of both contacts, but the picture is there only for google contacts and the contact picture is shown as blank for facebook contact. Please advice.

did you went to the settings on each of the apps that you listed up there?

gmail -> menu -> more -> @gmail.com -> email notifications must be selected.

Type this code *#*#7378423#*#* and goto->service tests->led/illumination once you click all the led lights and notification light in your phone wil blink this code is to test whether your hardware is working fine or not, if light comes reinstall android o.s using direct sony update software if you don't have click the below link to download.

good afternoon,

for me same problem. after updating this morning (dutch version), i also have no longer the option to have the led flashing when i missed a call. i have no 3rd party software installed, and also don't want this, because the option was in GB available. in meetings i often have my phone silenced, and this was a good option to see i i had any calls.

i did the test as described above, and it is working. so pls advise how to get this working again.

also it is not working for receiving sms messages

for now it looks like it is working ok for now

Clear ICS (Europe - Czech Republic) not work with LED missed call.

SMS OK.

Test menu OK.

Tested reset and repair the phone.

Tested on two phones ray.

This problem is a BUG.

Hi Andrew,

I tried that code and it worked fine.

As you suggested, i reinstalled the OS using sony pc companion by using repair option and it worked fine.

Hello!

I did all that, the test through service menue and re-installing the OS, LED is working just fine (has been on the test before), but still no notifications without extra app. Basically after changing to ICS the option LED notification vanished completely in both mail apps (standard as well as gmx). So, what's the suggestion for that?

In addition I cannot find quite a few other options now, like mass storage connection and also the content of the app saver isn't visible in Windows Explorer anymore, just to name a few... have to use MyPhoneExplorer, which, sorry, really sucks, because it's hard to connect sometimes. Has been a lot easier before. Also: How do I edit my SIM contacts within the phone? Before I could in contacts menu, not anymore...

So, can you help with the issues I pointed above?!

Besides: Overall I like ICS, but it definetaly has flaws, really sloooowwww at opening most apps / routines. I hope, this will be fixed with some near future OS update or such.

I'm from india n updated to ics on the day they released, where the led is working fine, but i updated using sony update software not through pc companion i think you guys need to reinstall and check, coz when my frd updated he didn't see the face lock option in the security but when he reinstalled that option came, so i guess reinstalling will solve the issue, where accessing contacts are very slow and video recording also not that good like GB, if you guys want to backup all contacts,apps and sms use wondershare or my phone explorer.

Hi all.

Perhaps Light Flow used to be the best app for accessing our phone's LED.

Unfortunately, after installing ICS, LED became "un-controllable".

Programmers of Light Flow suggested rooting but it’s an option I'd like to avoid.

I run the tests (typed *#*#7378423#*#* etc.) and worked just fine.

Any other suggestions please?

ACTUALLY I THINK WHAT THEY ARE TALKING ABOUT NOT WORKING LED IS WHEN SCREEN IS OFF THE LED NOTIFICATION WONT WORK BUT WHEN SCREEN IS ON,,ITS WORKING,,

i too have the same problem, my led notification works fine when screen is ON but when screen is OFF Led notification wont work..

TEST IT ITS ALL THE SAME...

SCREEN IS ON Led notification works fine...

SCREEN IS OFF Led notification wont work..

Light FLow wont solve the problem too. i have test it..im still looking for apps that would bring this back
