Sony A1 OLED HDMI Power On CEC Failing After Firmware Update

I have a Sony A1 OLED TV that has been working great for around 2.5 years.

My Setup is a simple Pioneer LX701 amp, using a single HDMI output to the Sony A1 HDMI 3.

I have multiple devices connected as inputs to the LX701, an Apple TV4, a Sky Q box, a Pioneer Blu-ray player, normally on power on of these devices the TV turns on automatically, after the firmware update recently the automatic power on is not working (power off works and device input switching works with CEC/Bravia Sync) it's just the power on function that's not working.

I've unplugged the TV, and verified Bravia sync is enabled.

how do I approach debugging why the TV is ignoring the HDMI power on signal.

Please check in the BRAVIA sync setting if the automatic TV activation is enabled.

yes, checked the settings before and after the firmware update and they are exactly the same with remote power on enabled.

it's a bit odd it's worked a few times, but then doesn't work for the majority.

Try disconnecting the sky q decoder and see if everything else works...
