Bluetooth only possible after hard reset of TV

I bought:

SONY - BRAVIA KD55XG8796BU 55" Smart 4K Ultra HD HDR LED TV with Google Assistant

I can only connect the remote control via Bluetooth (to use the microphone) by disconnecting and reconnecting the power cable for the TV.

Can anyone tell me of a way to connect over Bluetooth without a hard reset? Does it sound like a hardware problem please?

Any pointers most gratefully appreciated. Please let me know if any further detail of the product/replication is required. Thank you.

Thanks, I appreciate your support. However, the only thing that seems to reliably clear the issue is a hard reset. I think I may need to query this with Sony.
