I have a 49XF9005. When Oreo first came out it updated automatically and as it did not cause many problems, I left it at that. The version number in the "Help" menu is PKG6.5629.0177EUA. I understand that the latest version is PKG6.6510.0250EUA. However, when I get the TV to check for new software, it tells me that it is up to date. How can that be?

Hi @pautaylo4 It was only released just over two weeks ago (22 May 2019). It can take several weeks before being released to everyone via the automatic update. You can of course update it manually at your own risk if you cannot wait.

The update is no yet available for your TV in your region. So either wait or update via USB.
